Illawarra Sports Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Centre uses the latest exercise prescription technology to help your patients achieve their outcomes. The clinic uses a brand new app called PhysiApp to create tailored exercise programs for your patients. PhysiApp lets the patient complete their prescribed exercise program by following crystal-clear, narrated exercise videos.
The DynaMo is used to conduct objective strength and movement tests. It can be used to objectively track a patient’s recovery post injury or surgery. It provides a range of data on strength and power of movements.
The clinic has a TOG Force Plate which allows for a computerised gait scan. This can assist with the diagnosis of foot and lower leg conditions. If required, the data can be used to prescribe custom orthoses for the patient.
The clinic has a GE Logic E Ultrasound unit. This can be used for imaging soft tissue (especially muscle) and observing muscle contraction. This can provide feedback to the patient to help them activate the correct muscles. The unit can also perform Doppler studies on blood flow.
Blood Flow restriction training is a technique where cuffs are placed on a limb to restrict blood flow prior to exercising. This allows for a training effect to be achieved with a much lower load than in normal circumstances. BFR training can be a useful technique after injury of surgery to allow for recovery of the injured part with lower levels of stress being applied to the injured area.
Normatec compression garments may provide excellent recovery support for pain and injuries. Designed to optimise circulation and reduce muscle soreness, our tailored solutions cater to athletes and individuals alike. Our knowledgeable physiotherapists guide you through the benefits of compression therapy, promoting faster recovery and enhanced performance. Step into comfort and rejuvenation with our curated compression garment treatments.
Strapping, or the application of adhesive tape to an injured area, is used in injury rehabilitation to provide support and stability to muscles and joints. It helps limit unnecessary movement, allowing the injured tissues to rest and heal while reducing the risk of further injury. Additionally, strapping can enhance proprioceptive feedback from the taped area, helping to improve awareness of joint position and movement. This method is particularly useful in managing sprains and strains by supporting the affected area during recovery.
Patient exercises are crucial for improving mobility as they help to strengthen muscles, enhance joint flexibility, and increase range of motion. Regularly performing targeted exercises promotes better blood circulation, which aids in faster recovery and tissue repair. Additionally, exercises can improve coordination and balance, reducing the risk of falls and further injury. Through consistent practice, these exercises gradually rebuild the physical capabilities necessary for everyday activities, thereby enhancing overall mobility and quality of life.
Personalised braces are important in recovery because they are tailored to fit the specific contours of your body, providing optimal support and stability to the injured area. This custom fit ensures that the brace effectively restricts harmful movements while allowing safe ranges of motion, which is crucial for proper healing. Moreover, personalised braces distribute pressure evenly, reducing discomfort and preventing additional injury during recovery. This targeted support helps maintain alignment and can accelerate the rehabilitation process, promoting a faster return to daily activities.
